Oh man, taxes and a crazy glitch with my website have got me in a state! Can anyone relate? When will this abate? ugh…
Oh there’s also moving…did I mention moving…? ugh…
But anyway enough of that.
It’s been a wild time, packing up all CJ and I’s things into a shipping container and then driving across Nevada, and then unloading them in Utah and then, driving back across Nevada. You know, I’ve never stopped at the rest stop on the north side of I-80 on the Bonneville salt flats? I can’t believe that. It was amazing. And wow, Nevada is off-the-hook beautiful after it rains. It was as green as Ireland out there on our return trip to California.
Why did we come back to Cali you ask? Well, loose ends… finishing up some work, and some SHOWS!
This Saturday, April 16th, I’m playing the Lighted Window Concert Series in Campbell. Artists like Steve Seskin and Cris Williamson have played this series. I am very flattered to be included indeed.
On April 22nd (a week from Friday), I’m playing the inaugural concert at Glen Canyon Folk, a new house concert series in San Francisco. This is sure to be a fantastic evening!! I hope you can come. This will be my last show in the Bay for awhile. There is limited seating and we’d love to see you there! Please RSVP now to hold your space and receive the address: firstname.lastname@example.org
AND I’m really looking forward to a special May 7th, Mother’s Day concert with Mary and Peter Danzig of Otter Creek Duo at Holladay United Church of Christ. Mary and Peter’s daughters, The Three Muses, will also perform! And my mom (Marilyn Dillard) local chair of the Salt Lake City Old Time Fiddlers will add tasty fiddle to couple of my tunes.
*PLUS* I’m doing creative coaching, songwriting and performance sessions over Skype. It works quite well. I’d love to help get to know your muse. Please e-mail me to discuss: email@example.com
Yours in song,
Hello Adventurers and Storytellers,
Thanks to everyone I got hang with on my successful Pacific Northwest winter tour. I met so many wonderful people along the way from Hillsboro (Influence Music Hall!!Thank you Skip) to Coyle, WA. (Concerts in the Woods!! Thank you Norm) And we had an amazing turnout at Artichoke Music in Portland with a SOLD OUT show!! I’m filled to the brim with gratitude. (I’m also so sorry if you got turned away at the door.) I’m planning my next visit to the Pacific NW in August. More on that soon… Wow, it was gorgeous up there…here’s a view from Pt. Townsend…
On Wednesday, I’m playing at The Lost Church with Amy Obenski and Aireene Espiritu in San Francisco. It’s a show we’ve been planning for awhile and I can’t wait to hear what two of my favorite songwriters have been working on. You can save $5 on the ticket price by getting tickets here.
I’m writing you from rainy Berkeley, where I’ve been staying in a tiny cobb hovel. It’s like a fairy-gnome-hobbit house in a lush green backyard garden. I get to sleep in a sweet little loft. It’s fun to plan my year from such a green spot. It’s pretty magical especially when I don’t hit my head on the ceiling. 🙂
And at the end of the week I’m heading to one of my homes, Bishop, CA. There’s something magical about that place. The crazy, craggy Sierra Nevada mountains rise to the east making me feel protected and inspired at the same time. I’ll play at one of my favorite spots, the Mountain Rambler Brewery at 7pm on Saturday, March 12th. Then I’m headed to see the wildflower super bloom in Death Valley… and I’m bringin’ my banjo…
So I’m booking a tour through Colorado and New Mexico down to Kerrville in May. I’m also booking dates in Utah and Colorado and the surrounding states in June and July. I’m heading back to the Portland and Seattle areas during the 2nd and 3rd weeks of August. I’ll also drive to the Chicago area in late September for the NEDAconference. This booking thing a full time job. I’m getting deep in it and I sure do appreciate any tips you might have for me.
Also: Dinner House Concerts Yesss! We’re booking them. Check it out. I made an informational pdf…
Hope to see you out there…happy adventuring.
Yours in song,
PS: …and just booked! I’m going to do a special May 7th, Mother’s Day concert with Mary and Peter Danzig of Otter Creek Duo at Holladay United Church of Christ. (And their daughters, The Three Muses, will also sing and play.) Plus, I hope to have a certain guest fiddler during , my mom, the amazing Marilyn Dillard.
PPS: I found that meme that I used as my header on the Recovery Warriors FB page. They’re doing great work in the eating disorders treatment and recovery community. I was honored to be interviewed by the amazing Jessica Raymond, here.
